The Rohit Sharma-led Indian men’s cricket team will face Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match on Sunday (February 23) in Dubai. The high-voltage match between the two archrivals is scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium and will start at 2:30 PM IST. The match against India is a must-win for the Men in Green in order to keep their chances alive of qualifying for the semifinals.
India hammered Bangladesh by 6 wickets in the first Champions Trophy 2025 match played in Dubai on Thursday, February 20, whereas Pakistan went down by 60 runs against New Zealand in the tournament’s opener at National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday, February 19.
The Pakistani team is under pressure ahead of the match against India, but the Mohammad Rizwan-led side will take the field against India with confidence, as unlike the ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup, they enjoy a superior record against the Men in Blue in the Champions Trophy.
In five Champions Trophy matches played so far between India and Pakistan, the defending champions have managed to win on three occasions.

Pakistan beat India by 3 wickets in Birmingham on September 19, 2004
The first-ever Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan was played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on September 19, 2004, and in that fixture, Inzamam-ul-Haq’s side defeated India by 3 wickets. Sourav Ganguly’s men were invited to bat first by Inzamam, but despite Rahul Dravid’s 67 off 108 balls and Ajit Agarkar’s 47 off 50, Team India could only manage to post a total of 200 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 49.5 overs. In the 201-run chase, Pakistan lost the top three batters for 27 runs in 10.3 overs, but Mohammad Yousuf’s 81 and Inzamam’s 41 helped them reach the target in 49.2 overs for the loss of seven wickets.
Pakistan beat India by 54 runs in Centurion on September 26, 2009
India faced Pakistan in the first Group A match of the Champions Trophy 2009 on September 26 at SuperSport Park in Centurion but went down by 54 runs. After opting to bat first, Younis Khan-led side rode on Shoaib Malik’s 129 from 126 balls and Mohammad Yousuf’s 87 off 88 to post a total of 302/9 runs on the board and in reply Indian team despite half-centuries from Gautam Gambhir (57), and Rahul Dravid (76), could only manage to score 248 runs in 44.5 overs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Saeed Ajmal, and Shahid Afridi picked up two wickets each.

Team India secured its first-ever win over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy on June 15, 2013, during the match played at Edgbaston. In the rain-hit match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each to bowl Pakistan out for 165 runs in 39.4 overs. MS Dhoni’s men were asked to chase down 102 runs in 22 overs, and thanks to Shikhar Dhawan’s 48, India achieved the objective in 19.1 overs for the loss of two wickets.

India beat Pakistan by 124 runs in the Group B match of the Champions Trophy 2017. Rohit Sharma’s 91, Virat Kohli’s 81, Shikhar Dhawan’s 68, and Yuvraj Singh’s 53 helped India post 319 runs for the loss of three wickets in 48 overs at Edgbaston on June 4, 2017, and then Umesh Yadav’s 3/30 helped India bowl Pakistan out for 164 runs in 33.4 overs to secure a big win by 124 runs.

Pakistan beat India by 180 runs in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017. In the summit clash played at The Oval on June 18, Pakistan posted a total of 338 runs for the loss of three wickets and then dismissed India for 158 runs in 30.3 overs. For Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman scored 114 runs from 106 balls, and two batters—Azhar Ali (58) and Mohammad Hafeez (57)—scored half-centuries. In the bowling, Mohammad Amir finished with figures of 3/16 in six overs, and three Indian batters were also sent back to the pavilion by Hasan Ali (3/19 in 6.3 overs).
