All 10 teams announced their list of retained players ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctions on Thursday (October 31). While the majority of the top players were retained by their existing franchises, many top Indian and overseas players opted against retention and are now set to enter the IPL 2025 mega auctions.

Here’s a look at five star overseas players who are set to enter IPL 2025 mega auctions:

Jake Fraser-McGurk: Australian top-order batter Jake Fraser-McGurk made his IPL debut in 2024, and in nine matches for the Delhi Capitals, he hammered 330 runs with a strike rate of 234.04. The 22-year-old right-handed batter was expected to be retained by the Delhi-based franchise, but he wasn’t, and now he is all set to trigger a massive bidding war for his services.

Phil Salt: England’s wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt impressed with his batting show in IPL 2024 for KKR. He scored 435 runs in 12 matches and played a big role in the team’s title win. Salt is a very explosive top-order batter and has proved his worth at the highest level, which is why teams will be eager to secure his services.

Marcus Stoinis: Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was part of LSG in IPL 2024, and he has also played for Delhi Capitals and RCB in the past. Stoinis is a quality all-rounder who can open, bat in middle order, and as a finisher even. With the ball also, he is capable of bowling with the new ball, in middle overs and in the death overs, which is why he will be very high on demand. LSG will have an option to sign him back in the RTM.

Mitchell Starc: KKR signed Mitchell Starc for Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auctions, and the left-arm pacer proved his worth by producing a super show in the Qualifier 1 and final. He helped KKR win the IPL 2024 by running over SRH in the two knockout matches, and with the experience he brings to the side, teams will go after him in the IPL 2025 mega auctions.

Rachin Ravindra: New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra made his IPL debut in 2024 and impressed with his performances for CSK. The 24-year-old is a quality top-order batter who has proved his worth in all three formats of the game. With age by side, teams can look at him as a long-term investment.

In addition to the above-discussed players, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Mitchell Marsh, Jofra Archer, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, and Wanindu Hasaranga will also be in high demand.
