Star Indian cricketer Rinku Singh plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He joined the Kolkata-based franchise in 2018 and has been associated with them since then. The 27-year-old left-handed batter was retained for Rs 13 crore by IPL 2024 champions ahead of upcoming mega auctions. Rinku, who will next be seen in action for Team India in the upcoming four-match T20I series against South Africa, took to Instagram on Saturday (November 2) to share a post for KKR co-owner and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan to wish him on his 59th birthday.
Rinku posted the picture of him with the legendary actor from the celebration after KKR won the IPL 2024 final and captioned it, “Aapko inse pyaar hoga, mujhe toh mohabbat hain. Janamdivas ki shubhkamnaye @iamsrk sir. Puri duniya mein pyaar aur khushi hamesha baatne ke liye bohot bohot dhanyawaad. Love you sir.”
Rinku shares a great bond with Shah Rukh, and on a number of occasions in the past, the Bollywood actor was seen praising the Aligarh-based cricketer.
Rinku, who has been playing in the IPL for more than six years now, rose to stardom in April 2023 after he hammered his Uttar Pradesh teammate Yash Dayal for five sixes in a row to win the IPL 2023 match for KKR against Gujarat Titans. KKR needed 29 runs from five balls to win the match when Rinku took the matter in his own hands and sealed a famous win for the Kolkata-based franchise.
After his heroics in IPL 2023, Rinku got a chance to play for India as well, and he made his international debut in August during a T20I match played in Dubai against Ireland. He has played two ODIs and 26 T20Is for Men in Blue so far and has 55 and 479 runs, respectively, to his name.
Rinku was unable to score big runs in IPL 2024 for KKR, but despite that, he travelled with the Indian team to the USA and West Indies as a reserve player for the T20 World Cup 2024, which the Rohit Sharma-led side won by defeating South Africa in the final played at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29, 2024.
