Abhishek Sharma is thrilled to be part of the Indian T20I squad, set to feature in a four-match series in South Africa. The first match will be played in Durban on November 8. This was the venue where Yuvraj Singh smashed six sixes in an over off England’s Stuart Broad at the 2007 T20 World Cup. The memory remains fresh in the hearts of every Indian cricket fan and Abhishek is no exception. The 24-year-old recently reminisced about Yuvraj’s historic knock upon stepping onto the field at Kingsmead ahead of the first T20I.
In a recent video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Abhishek Sharma was seen speaking about how Yuvraj Singh and his power-packed batting inspired him to become a cricketer. The youngster turned nostalgic when he could locate the stands that the former India all-rounder targeted in that over against Stuart Broad.
“I’ve come here for the first time but when I saw it for the first time on TV and now I’m here so it’s a dream come true. I was inspired by Yuvraj Singh’s 6-sixes during the T20 World Cup 2007. On my Day 1 here, I was trying to figure out where he hit from which end. Then we all began discussing, he hit the first two there and the third one was over point and covered all the areas. It’s a great memory,” Abhishek Sharma said.
