The champions of the 2022 edition will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their first game, slated to begin at 7:30 PM IST on Tuesday (March 25). Shubman Gill, who replaced Hardik Pandya to become Gujarat’s captain ahead of IPL 2023, will continue to lead the side.
Meanwhile, PBKS have appointed their new signing Shreyas Iyer as their skipper. The middle-order batter, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third title last season, was picked by Punjab at a staggering value of Rs 26.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
They also strengthened their bowling unit by signing Yuzvendra Chahal – the only bowler to pick 200 wickets in IPL history. PBKS also re-signed India’s T20 World Cup winner Arshdeep Singh and welcomed back Australian duo – Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.
GT have also formed a strong squad for IPL 2025. Besides captain Gill, they retained some other first-team stars like Rashid Khan and Sai Sudharsan. Gujarat have acquired Jos Buttler, who is expected to open with Gill. Kagiso Rabada will spearhead the GT pace attack, alongside Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.
