West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell recently played two games back-to-back in two different league in two different countrires.
The Kolkata Knight Riders star represented Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Rangpur Riders with less than 24 hours seprating the two games.
On 2 February, Andre Russell played for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders against Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and then boarded a flight to Dhaka to represent the Rangpur Riders against Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Eliminator at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur the next day.
Irrespective of the change in timezones and geography, Russell’s performances across the two game remained the same.
Russell was dismissed for a golden duck by Dushmantha Chameera in the ILT20 match and then managed just four runs off nine balls before being dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz in the BPL. The West Indian all-rounder’s showing in both the matches highlights the physical toll such a schedule can take on players.
Shanaka Shows How It’s Done
Dasun Shanaka too played two games in a single day, playing a first-class as well as a T20 match.
On 3 February, the Sri Lankan all-rounder played for the Sinhalese Sports Club against Moors Club in Colombo.
On the final day of the game, Shanaka resumed his innings on 39 and struck a masterful knock of 123 runs from 87 balls, with the help of 10 fours and eight sixes. The match though ended in a draw.
Just after the end of the match, Shanaka flew from Colombo to Dubai to participate in the ILT20.
Playing for Dubai Capitals againnst Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Shanaka made 34 runs off 12 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.
