Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who picked up one wicket for 25 runs in three overs during the first T20I against South Africa on Friday, needs three wickets on Sunday (November 10) in the second T20I, which will be played at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, to break Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record and become India’s most successful fast bowler in the shortest format of the game.
Bhuvneshwar, who last played a T20I match for India in November 2022, has 90 wickets to his name in 87 T20Is, whereas since making his debut against England in July 2022, Arshdeep has accounted for the dismissal of 88 batters in 57 T20Is. As of now, he sits at No. 3 position in the list of pacers with most wickets for India in T20Is. Between him and Bhuvneshwar is Jasprit Bumrah, who has picked up 89 wickets in 70 T20Is for Men in Blue.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who was not considered for a place in the Indian team for the ongoing series, holds the record for dismissing most batters for India in T20Is. In 80 matches, Chahal has 96 wickets to his name.
Apart from Arshdeep, Hardik Pandya will also have a chance to break Bhuvneshwar’s record and take the No. 1 position. The 31-year-old star all-rounder, who made his T20I debut for India in January 2016 against Australia, has dismissed 87 batters so far in 106 matches.
If during the second T20I, Arshdeep manages to take four wickets, then he will also break Bhuvneshwar’s record of taking most wickets in T20Is played between India and South Africa. Arshdeep has dismissed 11 South African batters in seven T20Is played so far, whereas Bhuvneshwar has 14 wickets to his name in 12 India-South Africa T20Is.

During the second T20I, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav will also have a chance to break multiple batting records. If he hits five maximums, then he will become the fastest batter to hit 150 sixes in T20Is. Only two batters in the world have smacked more than 150 sixes in the shortest format of the game.
