Since making his T20I debut for India against England in Southampton on July 7, 2022, Arshdeep has dismissed 89 batters in 58 matches.
Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack for India in the second T20I played against South Africa at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on Sunday (November 10) and picked up one wicket for 41 runs in four overs. He dismissed Ryle Rickleton for 13 runs from 11 balls on the fifth ball of the third over of run chase. By taking the wicket of South African opener, Arshdeep has extended his tally of wickets to 89 in 58 T20Is for India, and it has helped him equal Jasprit Bumrah’s record.
In 70 T20Is played so far for the two-time T20 World Cup winners, Bumrah has also accounted for the dismissal of 89 batters. Only Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have managed to take more wickets in the shortest format of the game for India than Arshdeep.
Chahal, who was part of the Indian team that won the 2024 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, has 96 wickets to his name in 80 matches, whereas Bhuvneshwar, who last played a T20I in November 2022, has dismissed 90 batters in 87 T20Is played so far.
Most wickets for India in T20Is

Arshdeep made his T20I debut for India on July 7, 2022, against England in Southampton, and since then he has established himself as one of the best bowlers in white-ball cricket for India. The left-arm pacer from Punjab finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2024. He played in all eight matches for the Rohit Sharma-led side and got rid of 17 batters.
But Arshdeep’s figures of 1 for 41 in four overs on Sunday went in vain as India failed to defend the total of 124 runs and went on to lose the match by three wickets. The hosts, which suffered defeat by 61 runs in the series opener played at Kingsmead in Durban on Friday (November 8), rode on Tristan Stubb’s calculated knock of 47 runs from 41 balls to chase down the target in 19 overs for the loss of seven wickets.
For India, apart from Arshdeep, Ravi Bishnoi picked up one wicket whereas five South African batters were sent back to the pavilion by Varun Chakravarthy.
