AUS vs ENG Champions Trophy 2025 Pitch And Weather Report: Rain Unlikely To Play Spoilsport In LahoreAustralia will kick off their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against England on Saturday, February 22. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the much-awaited fixture between the two powerhouses.
Australia won the tournament twice in 2006 and 2009 but failed to register a single victory in the 2013 and 2017 editions. Moreover, the Aussies are also missing the key fast-bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood due to fitness problems.
Steve Smith has been appointed skipper in Cummins’ absence. The veteran batter will hope to spearhead the two-time champions to an early victory in the fifty-over ICC tournament. Taking down England without their star bowlers, however, will likely be a major challenge.
England, on the other hand, will hope to recover some form in their upcoming match against Australia. They were recently thumped 0-3 by India in an ODI series. The two-time Champions Trophy finalists have also made some changes to their squad with Jamie Smith returning to the team as wicketkeeper.
In their bowling attack, Jofra Archer will join fellow seamers Brydon Carse and Mark Wood. It remains to be seen how the Englishmen fair against an Aussie squad plagued with injuries.
Lahore Weather Forecast:
The weather in Lahore will likely be partly cloudy during Australia’s blockbuster Champions Trophy clash against England. Fans can expect widespread areas of smoke and haze which can even reduce visibility at times. The chances of precipitation remain low at five percent.
The Temperatures will hover around 23 degrees Celsius during the day and 11 degrees Celsius at night. The wind speeds will range between 10 km/h to 15 km/h with a maximum humidity level of 74 percent.
Gaddafi Stadium Pitch Report:
The cricket pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium is widely considered to be excellent for batting. It offers good bounce and pace for batters to execute their shots with ease. Fast bowlers can generate some swing with the new ball.
As the match progresses, spinners can chime in to find wickets. In the recently-concluded Pakistan Tri-nation series bowlers faced several challenges to stem the flow of runs. High scores were a common occurrence in those games with top teams like New Zealand and Pakistan putting up totals of over 300.
