Australia vs England Champions Trophy 2025 Live Streaming Details, When And Where To Watch: Australia will play their Champions Trophy 2025 opener against England this weekend. The blockbuster game will be hosted at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 22.
The Aussies will be heading into the ICC event as two-time champions with back-to-back triumphs in 2006 and 2009. England, whereas, have featured in two finals in 2004 and 2013 but failed to secure a win on both occasions.
Since winning the Champions Trophy in 2009, Australia have failed to secure a single victory in the tournament for the last 15 years. They have competed in six matches in 2013 and 2017, losing thrice while the remaining matches ended in no result.
Australia will also be missing a lot of firepower as Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc have been ruled out of the tournament due to fitness problems. Steve Smith is set to captain the side in Pakistan as they look to break the winless streak.
England have also been far from their best in ODI cricket recently. The Jos Buttler-led side have not won an ODI series since September 2023.
They were whitewashed 0-3 in their bilateral tour against India ahead of the Champions Trophy. England’s lineup will also see some changes in the upcoming tie against Australia.
Jamie Smith has been confirmed to don the gloves after a return to the squad. England’s fast-bowling unit comprising Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse and Mark Wood are expected to lead the team’s attack in Pakistan.
