Australia wicketkeeper Josh Inglis came up with a brilliant ton during the run chase to guide his side to a resounding win. Matthew Short also made some vital contributions with the bat having added 63 runs to the scorecard.
Alex Carey chipped in with a crucial knock of 69 off 63 balls in the middle order. The Aussies scored the winning runs with 15 balls to spare.
Meanwhile, South Africa kicked off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a convincing 107-run win against Afghanistan. South Africa wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton produced a hundred to help his side breach the 300-run total.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram scored a half-century each. The target, however, turned out to be challenging for the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side. Afghanistan, during the run chase, were bowled out for 208.
Kagiso Rabada picked up three wickets to earn a comfortable win for the Proteas.
