A day before their second ODI against England in Cuttack, several members of the Indian cricket team sought blessings of Lord Jagannath at the Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday.

Spinner Varun Chakaravarthy along with all-rounders Washington Sundar and Axar Patel visited the Jagannath Temple on Saturday and offered prayer at the temple ahead of the contest scheduled to be held at the Barabati Cricket Stadium on February 9 (Sunday).

Amid tight security, the three players returned to Bhubaneswar after having a darshan of deities at the temple in the morning.

The players of both India and England teams arrived at Bhubaneswar airport on Friday evening. Soon after their arrival, they were escorted to a luxury hotel in the city.

The two teams will conduct their respective practice sessions at the stadium on Saturday.

India defeated England by four wickets earlier this week in Nagpur to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Half-centuries from Shubman Gill (87), Shreyas Iyer (59) and Axar (52) helped India chase down 249 in 38.4 overs at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana made their ODI debuts while Virat Kohli missed the contest due to swelling in his right knee. Kohli though is expected to be available for the second ODI.
