It might not have been a season to remember for the Lucknow Super Giants. In the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League, the franchise suffered their worst performance as they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

With a seventh-placed finish, it was clear that a change of approach was needed. Luckily, the franchise had some emerging talents within the squad who showed glimpses of their potential for the future.

The franchise has looked to rebuild its squad but some of the uncapped stars that have played for the franchise could continue with the franchise, giving them a bigger role in the future with the side.

Here’s a look at the emerging talents who have performed for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024 season:

Ayush Badoni

The 24-year-old batter from Delhi seems to be ready to take the step up in responsibility after being asked to play a finisher role for quite some time now. But now with a chance higher up in the order a possibility, it just might be the push that the youngster needed to take his game up a notch. It could be the perfect opportunity for the batter to showcase that he has the qualities to be a reliable option in the top or middle order of the batting unit.

His role with LSG has been primarily as a finisher where he did not have too many chances to shine. But even so, he has scored 235 runs at a strike-rate of 137.43 showcasing that he could be better suited for a position higher up the batting order. He had decent performances in the IPL where he scored a valiant 55 off 30 balls to help LSG come close to beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Also in his stint with India A in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, he scored 51 runs in just 27 balls at the number four position against Oman A, showing that he could have the skills to succeed in that top-order position.

Mayank Yadav

The express pacer from Delhi had a brief stint in the IPL after his season was cut short due to injury. But that alone was enough to garner hype within the country, who found a bowler that can easily clock 150 kph with ease while also maintaining a keen sense of accuracy. When fit, he showed that he could change the game across all three phases of the bowling innings which meant the franchise took a punt in retaining him for the next season.

One cannot forget his performance on his IPL debut where he cranked up the pace to the mid-150s and delivered the game-changing blow against the Punjab Kings with three wickets to help his side win. He has gone on to make his T20I debut during the series against Bangladesh where he made his mark with his accuracy albeit not with the same kind of pace seen with LSG.

Mohsin Khan

The left-arm medium-fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh has been with the franchise for the past three seasons. While pace might not be his best quality, his variations made him an ideal option in the middle and death-over stages of an innings. His continuing improvement has helped LSG rely on him to be their go-to bowling option when the situation gets tight.

The 26-year-old might have had a season to forget in 2024 but if he is able to keep his fitness in check, he can be the ideal partner in crime for a pace spearhead. In the game against Punjab Kings, Mayank Yadav might have taken the spotlight with his three wickets but Mohsin was also quietly making his contributions when he got rid of Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran to pile on the pressure on the opposition. He may not be the star pacer that a side needs, but he can be the one who chips in regularly with the odd wickets.
