The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came out on Wednesday to clarify that the Indian men’s cricket team will be following ‘every uniform-related ICC rule’ for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia rejected speculation that the Board had objected to hosting Pakistan’s name on the official jersey for the side and that the Indian cricket team will adhere to the dress code set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the Champions Trophy.

Devajit Saikia, board secretary, speaking to PTI said: “BCCI to follow every uniform-related ICC rule during Champions Trophy.”

“Whatever the other teams will do regarding the logo and dress code, we are going to follow in true letter and spirit,” he added.

It is understood that there was never any doubt about following the logo guidelines and the BCCI did not raise concerns with the global body.

When Pakistan came to India in 2023 for the 50-over ICC World Cup, Babar Azam and his men duly sported the host country’s name on their jerseys as part of the tournament protocol.

As per reports in Pakistani media, the ICC has reportedly said that all participants have to comply with the rules. All teams have to display the tournament’s official logo including the host’s name on their kits failing which ICC will take stern action.

“It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule,” ARY Sports quoted an ICC source as saying.

The publication further quoted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources as claiming that there has been no communication between any of their official with any Indian news agency on the subject.

“ICC has already accommodated India’s request to not schedule its CT matches in Pakistan, so these are minor issues,” the source told TOI on Tuesday.

ICC and PCB decided to host the Champions Trophy in Hybrid Model after BCCI refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan citing security concerns. India will play all their matches in Dubai.

The tournament is scheduled to get underway from February 19 when hosts Pakistan face New Zealand in Karachi.

India begin their campaign from February 20, facing Bangladesh in Dubai.
