In a bizarre moment for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday, number three batter Ishan Kishan was given out for a caught-behind dismissal against Mumbai Indians (MI) despite hardly any bowlers or fielders appealing. Only minutes after, it was revealed that Kishan had not even edged the ball.

This happened on the first ball of the third over. Pacer Deepak Chahar bowled it down the leg and Kishan tried to fish for it but remained inside the line. Wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton didn’t appeal at all, only skipper Hardik Pandya seemed to be partially appealing. However, the umpire had his finger partially up in the air and as soon as Chahar lightly appealed, he raised it completely.

Kishan didn’t seem to consider a review and walked off disappointed, shaking his head. Pandya, who’s good friends with him went to him and patted his head like an elder brother, too.

Watch the moment here:

It was as unfortunate as it gets for SRH and Kishan. He would have hoped to put up a good performance against his old franchise at his new home with a flat track on offer.

He had got out strangled down the leg side in his second innings of the season, immediately after scoring a century against Rajasthan Royals. This is his fifth dismissal for a single-digit score since that knock.

SRH’s situation only got worse after his dismissal. They had already lost opener Travis Head to Trent Boult in the previous over, as he mis-hit one for an easy catch at backward point.

In the fourth over, Abhishek Sharma got out driving a ball against Boult, straight to covers. Nitish Kumar Reddy’s poor form continued, too, as he lost his wicket for 2 (6), driving one to mid-on.
