India in Australia 2020/21
India didn’t have the best of starts in their previous Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign in Australia. The opening Test in Adelaide saw India get dismissed at just 36 runs in the second innings. It paved the way for a dominant eight-wicket win for Australia. India responded by pulling off a win in Melbourne. They next did the unthinkable by winning the final Test in Gabba, securing a 2-1 series triumph.
India in Australia 2018/19
India had a winning start to their Australia tour in 2018, winning the Adelaide Test by 31 runs. They lost in Perth before beating the Aussies in Melbourne to win the series 2-1. Cheteshwar Pujara dominated with the bat, scoring 521 runs. Whereas, Jasprit Bumrah was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the series alongside Nathan Lyon with 21 wickets.
India in Australia 2014/15
The 2014/15 series was a forgettable one for India as they failed to win a single Test on away soil. Virat Kohli was in stellar form, scoring 692 runs but it couldn’t make a difference for the visiting side. India lost the first two clashes by 48 runs and four wickets, respectively. The next two matches were drawn, resulting in a 0-2 series loss.

The 2011/12 Border-Gavaskar Trophy was one of the most one-sided affairs in Test cricket history. The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side endured a 0-4 whitewash defeat on Australian soil. The duo of Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke were in peak form with both Aussie batters averaging more 100-plus runs in the four-match affair. Ben Hilfenhaus dominated the bowling charts with 27 wickets to his name.

India lost the 2007/08 Border Gavaskar Trophy 1-2 to Australia. Despite boasting a squad filled with stars like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Anil Kumble, India secured just a single victory in Perth. Tendulkar was the top scorer of the series, adding 493 runs for India at an average of 70.42. Brett Lee took 24 scalps to finish as the highest wicket-taker.

The 2003/04 series ended in a draw after both India and Australia secured a victory each. India led the series after winning by four wickets at Adelaide. Australia bounced back with a nine-wicket victory to level the bout. Rahul Dravid performed brilliantly in the series, scoring 619 runs for India at a staggering average of 123.80.

India’s first-ever away series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy saw them get blown away 3-0 by Australia. The home side were unrelenting as they bagged successive wins in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
