Brad Hodge reportedly did burnouts in the dressing room while sitting on an e-bike and damaged carpet following which a complaint was made to Cricket Australia.

Brad Hodge has landed himself in controversy after he allegedly brought an e-bike to the Australian dressing room during the recent T20I series against Pakistan and doing burnouts that resulted in damage to the carpet. The incident is said to have taken place after Australia defeated Pakistan in the third T20I in Hobart and led to complaint from Cricket Tasmania.
As per a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, after Australia completed a seven-wicket win in Hobart, the 49-year-old Hodge allegedly brought an e-bike in the dressing room and did burnouts which damaged the carpet.
Hodge was acting as the Australian team’s batting coach for the T20I series partnering Lachlan Stevens, Matthew Wade with Andre Borovec serving as the head coach in the absence of Andrew McDonald. Australia blanked Pakistan 3-0 in the series.
Cricket Australia released a statement after receiving the complaint in which it apologised to Cricket Tasmania for the damage and revealed that the person responsible for the damage will bear the cost of the repairs.
“We are aware some damage was caused to the carpet in the Australian dressing room at Bellerive Oval after the Australia-Pakistan T20 and we have apologised to Cricket Tasmania for this. The cost of the repairs will be passed on to the person who caused the damage and they will be reminded of their responsibility to take care of the facilities they are privileged to use,” CA said in a statement.
Hodge played six Tests, 25 ODIs and 15 T20Is between 2005 and 2014 and brought an end to his playing career in 2018. He scored 1261 runs across formats and took two wickets as well. He was part of Australia’s coaching staff at the 2024 T20 World Cup which was co-hosted by West Indies and USA.
Bellerive Oval, an international venue, is under the control of state of Tasmania.
