Coldplay’s Mumbai concert on Saturday was unforgettable for both music and cricket fans. The event ended with lead singer Chris Martin surprising the crowds.

As the popular song, ‘A Sky Full of Stars,’ was building up to the drop, the band killed it with Martin addressing the puzzled crowd, only to give them a cheeky comment where he said, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.”

“He (Martin) says he needs to bowl at me now,” Martin added.

The fans that were present at the venue cheered after Martin’s comment to send social media into a frenzy as many thought that the Indian pacer would make his way to the stage. But that was not meant to be the case. His comment on one of India’s most popular cricket stars certainly gave the fans something to remember.

The Indian pace spearhead is coming off a sensational performance in India’s recent Test tour of Australia. While the Indian team was unable to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah’s performance certainly received massive praise from both sides. Many former cricketers lauded the pacer’s performances, and he finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker with 32 wickets across the five Tests.

India looked towards Bumrah to get their breakthroughs, but the fast bowler suffered an injury to his back in the final stages of the fifth Test, resulting in him being unable to bowl for the final innings. His injury setback is a major concern as the Indian team now prepares themselves for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, which holds more importance now that India does not qualify for the World Test Championship final for the 2023-25 cycle.

Despite his injury concerns, the pace spearhead has been named in India’s provisional squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian team will hope that he can recover in time for the full duration of the tournament, but reports have suggested that he would be available for only the knockout stages.

Nonetheless, Bumrah’s presence would certainly play a big role should the Men in Blue have a successful campaign in the United Arab Emirates. Fans would hope that he can make a swift recovery and help put Indian cricket back on the winning track.
