India allrounder Vijay Shankar will be seen donning the Chennai Super Kings jersey once again in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Vijay, who had previously plied his trade for franchises like Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, was signed by the five-time champions for Rs 1.20 crore at the recent IPL 2025 mega auction.

Vijay is looking forward to the next IPL season and he shared a picture of himself, wearing a yellow shirt with ‘Chennai’s Super King’ printed on it.

Vijay has also used the same photo as his profile picture on X (formerly Twitter).

In the IPL, Shankar made his debut representing CSK against Rajasthan Royals in 2014. He has so far featured in 72 matches in the competition.

He has scored six half-centuries and 1115 runs in the IPL at a strike rate of 129.80.

At the IPL 2016 auction, he was roped in by SRH.

In his last IPL appearance, Vijay represented Gujarat Titans earlier this year against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

At the recent auction, Shankar was one of the key signings made by the CSK.

CSK also acquired the services of some big names like Ravichandran Ashwin (Rs 9.75 crore), Devon Conway (Rs 6.25 crore), Rachin Ravindra (Rs 4 crore), Rahul Tripathi (Rs 3.40 crore), Khaleel Ahmed (Rs 4.80 crore), Noor Ahmad (Rs 10 crore), Sam Curran (Rs 2.40 crore), Deepak Hooda (Rs 1.70 crore) and Nathan Ellis (Rs 2 crore).

CSK strengthened their squad by signing some uncapped players like Anshul Kamboj, Vansh Bedi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Shaik Rasheed as well.

Ahead of the two-day mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, CSK had decided to retain five players and they are – MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana.

CSK spent a total of Rs 54.95 crore with Afghanistan spinner Ahmed being their most-expensive signing (for Rs 10 crore) at the latest auction.
