Nita Ambani, who is the owner of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians, has congratulated the Indian team on winning the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 title. The Niki Prasad-led side hammered South Africa by 9 wickets in the final played at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, February 2, to win the age-group tournament for the second time in a row. G. Trisha dismissed three South African batters for 15 runs in the summit clash and then hammered 44 runs with the bat to seal a memorable win for the Indian team.

Praising Team India’s performance, Nita Ambani, who is an IOC (International Olympic Committee) member, said, “Champions again! Congratulations to our incredible Girls in Blue for winning the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup for the second year in a row! What a phenomenal triumph! Your grit, passion, talent, and hard work have made us all proud. You’ve shown the world that India, Indian sport, and Indian women are truly unstoppable. Your stories and your journeys are an inspiration for generations to come. Keep shining!”

South Africa, led by Kayla Reyneke, opted to bowl first in the final match on Sunday, but their decision backfired quickly as India’s three-pronged spin attack bowled them out for 82 runs in 20 overs.

Left-arm spinner Aayushi Shukla was the star of the show with figures of 4-2-9-2, and fellow spinners Parunika Sisodia and Vaishanvi Sharma also accounted for the dismissal of two South African batters each.

For India with the bat, apart from Trisha, vice-captain Sanika Chalke scored 26 runs from 22 balls and sealed the victory with a boundary on the second ball of the 12th over of the run chase.

“I’ve dreamt of this moment for the past two years, and I can’t believe I hit the winning runs—it’s truly surreal. My teammates’ support made all the difference, and this moment is one I’ll cherish forever,” said Sanika after the match.

India won all seven matches played in the 2025 edition of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. For her super show with the bat and ball, Trisha won Player of the Match in the final, and she also bagged the Player of the Tournament award for scoring 307 runs and taking 7 wickets in seven matches.
