The Delhi Capitals’ social media admin, on Saturday, March 1, took a dig at its Royal Challengers Bengaluru counterpart after a tweet from their earlier reverse fixture was deleted following the defeat by the Smriti Mandhana-led team in Bangalore.

After the game, the Capitals took to X to troll their opponents as the latter’s social media admin deleted an old tweet.

Before the match between the two teams on Saturday, they played a reverse fixture on February 17 in Vadodara, which Bangalore won by eight wickets.

During that match, Delhi tweeted that they were rooting for their side’s victory over Bangalore. After winning the match, the latter quoted that tweet and replied, ‘Uno reverse. ‘

After Delhi won the second game, Bangalore deleted its tweet. “Tweet deleted?” the former was quick to ask.

The tweet went viral immediately and currently has almost 300000 views on X. The Bangalore admin hasn’t replied to the tweet yet.

Meanwhile, Shafali Verma smacked 80 not out as Delhi registered a commanding nine-wicket victory over Bangalore.

For defending champions Bangalore, this was their fourth successive loss at their home venue of M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the city.

After Ellyse Perry’s fourth half-century (60 not out) of WPL 2025 took Bangalore to a competitive 147/5, Delhi batters Shafali (80 not out) and Jess Jonassen (61 not out) brushed aside the challenge without much ado.

Chasing 148 to win, Delhi prevailed with nine wickets in hand and almost five overs to spare, consolidating their position at the top of the Women’s Premier League table with 10 points from seven games, thanks to five victories and two defeats.

Delhi became the first side to reach the playoffs. They had handed a similar thrashing to Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru on Friday.

Bangalore, on the other hand, slipped to fourth position with just two victories till now in six games.

Shafali continued to dazzle with her stroke play to make 80 not out off just 43 deliveries with four sixes and eight boundaries for her first fifty of WPL 2025 after falling in the 40s thrice in the tournament.

Shafali produced a cracking hit for a six over cover off Georgia Wareham in the 13th over to complete her half-century off 30 deliveries.
