Sanju Samson’s father Vishwanath accused the likes of former captains MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and former coach Rahul Dravid of wasting 10 years of his son’s career.

Sanju Samson made his international debut in 2015, but it took him close to a decade to cement his place in the team. The Bangladesh T20Is saw him promoted as the opener, and he repaid the faith with back-to-back hundreds, becoming the first Indian batter to achieve this feat in the shortest format of the game. Though the Kerala cricketer has often admitted being grateful to be representing the country, his father doesn’t seem to be happy with the delay in seeing the cricketer become a regular face in the Indian dressing room.
A video has taken over the internet in which Sanju’s father, Samson Vishwanath, could be heard taking a dig at India’s previous leadership and management for ‘ruining’ his son’s career.
Speaking with a Malayalam news station, MediaOne, Vishwanath accused the likes of former captains MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and former coach Rahul Dravid of wasting 10 years of his son’s career.
“There are 3-4 people who wasted 10 years of my son’s vital career…captains like Dhoni ji, Virat ji, Rohit ji and coach Dravid ji,” he said.
“These four people wasted 10 years of my son’s life, but the more they hurt him, the stronger Sanju came out of the crisis,” he added.

Samson made his T20I debut back in 2015 at just 21, recognised as a highly promising and skilled player in domestic T20 cricket. However, inconsistency and the presence of established batters like Rohit and Kohli limited his opportunities in the national team. It wasn’t until 2021, after displaying greater maturity and development in recent IPL seasons, that Samson regained a spot in the squad.
