Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was astonished when a young net bowler channeled his inner Jasprit Bumrah to beat him in practice. The 36-year-old is currently in Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

During one of Australia’s training sessions, Maxwell was putting his batting skills to the test against several Pakistani youngsters and one bowler had a special surprise for the Aussie veteran. Dressed in white and khaki colors, the youngster imitated Bumrah’s bowling action before firing off a quick good-length delivery.

Maxwell couldn’t time his shot well as the ball moved past him, sparking a loud cheer from the individuals nearby. Cricket Australia shared a clip of the moment on Instagram. “Everywhere we go now…,” they wrote, in a cheeky caption alluding to the famous Tom Holland meme.

Bumrah has established himself as the world’s best fast bowler in the last decade. The 31-year-old spearheaded India’s bowling attack in the recent 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Despite conceding a 1-3 defeat, Bumrah was named the Player of the Series for his impeccable display.

He finished the five-match battle with 32 wickets at a jaw-dropping average of 13.06. He registered two four-fours and three fifers in nine outings. He suffered back spasms in the Sydney Test in January which ruled him out of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Late last year, Maxwell backed Bumrah to go down as ‘potentially’ the best fast bowler of all time. Speaking on The Grade Cricketer podcast, the Aussie all-rounded named Bumrah and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the Indian senior team’s two genuine generational talents who were at the peak of their powers.

“I have said this before Bumrah is going to go down as potentially the best fast bowler of all time. Maybe not with the amount of wickets he takes in every format but for the guys that have played against him it is just so difficult,” Maxwell said.

Maxwell further explained how Bumrah’s bowling action made him so challenging to compete against. “He’s just got such unique action, unique ability with the ball to get it to move and rush you, he can beat you on the outside edge, inside edge and he’s got a quick sniff good slower ball, he seems like a complete package,” he concluded.

Maxwell will likely feature during Australia’s Champions Trophy opener against England on February 22 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
