The International Cricket Council’s Chairman, Jay Shah announced on social media the launch of their awareness initiative ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives’ during the third ODI between India vs England, set to be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Shah made the announcement on his official handle on X (formerly known as Twitter) where he made the announcement, promoting organ donation to help others in need.

“On the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on February 12th, we are proud to launch an awareness initiative – ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives,’ he wrote.

“Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and create lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, we urge everyone to take a step towards giving the greatest gift of all – the gift of life,” he added.

“One pledge, one decision, can save multiple lives. Let’s come together and make a difference!” ICC chair Shah posted on X,” he concluded.

Regarding the ongoing ODI series between India and England, the Men in Blue have taken the series victory after their win by four wickets in the second match that took place in the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma returned to form with 119 runs off 90 balls while Shubman Gill chipped in with 60 runs while Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel contributed 44 and 41 respectively to the win.

With the ball, it was Ravindra Jadeja who stood out in the first innings as he finished as the pick of the Indian bowlers with figures of 3/35. This is the second consecutive game he has picked three wickets and shows that he is in good rhythm ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Virat Kohli made his return after missing out on the first game due to an injury to his right knee. But his return was not a successful one as he was dismissed for just five runs by the English leg-spinner, Adil Rashid.

The third ODI could see the Indian team give some crucial game time to some of the stars that have been on the bench to get them in good form ahead of the returning ICC event. India will play all their games, including the knockouts in Dubai while the remaining games not involving India will be played in Pakistan.
