Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran’s reaction after Kamindu Mendis swung hard at a free hit but failed to get any bat on it has gone viral on social media, with the 32-year-old becoming a favourite of the camera every time something dramatic happens on the field.

Although Hyderabad managed to beat the Chennai Super Kings on Friday, the game saw a small moment involving Kavya, which has taken social media by storm.

As SRH were cruising towards their paltry target of 155 against Chennai, a rather frustrating moment featuring Mendis irked Kavya during the 16th over of the chase. Watch the video here:

Chennai’s Noor Ahmad overstepped, and Mendis, batting on 15 at the time, bagged a free hit.

But instead of capitalising, Mendis missed a tossed-up ball outside off stump while trying to go for a big hit.

While the incident drew a small cheer from the Chennai fans, it was Kavya’s expression that stole the spotlight as usual.

The camera captured Kavya’s animated reaction, a mix of surprise and disbelief. But despite the free hit miss, Mendis more than made up for it.

Harshal Patel and skipper Pat Cummins laid the foundation for SRH’s historic victory over Chennai earlier.

Harshal’s clever variations helped him bag brilliant figures of 4/28, while Cummins bowled with perfection to return figures of 2/21 in his four overs.

Ishan Kishan then led the Hyderabad chase with a punchy 44, but wickets at regular intervals gave Chennai faint hope.

“Good to see a few smiles. It was pretty clinical. A couple of guys at the top looked like taking the game on. In these conditions, threw Klaasen at the top, and Nitish to finish it off,” Cummins said while speaking at the post-match presentation.

With six points from nine matches, Hyderabad’s play-off qualification hangs by a thread as they need to win all their five games and that too by a fair margin to end on 16 points.

SRH play their next game against the Gujarat Titans on May 2 at the latter’s home.
