Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar attended British rock band Coldplay’s concert in Navi Mumbai on January 18 with his family and friends. Many pictures and videos of Tendulkar enjoying the event went viral on the internet. The popular rock band is in India these days, and ahead of its concert at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Tendulkar opened up about his love and admiration for Coldplay and its lead, Chris Martin.
According to Tendulkar, he has attended many concerts of the rock band, and he has been friends with Martin since 2016.
“I have attended many concerts of his. Since we met in 2016, we’ve been friends, and wherever he’s performing, I love to go and experience that. The energy that they create inside the stadium is just incredible. Loved their music,” Tendulkar told Star Sports India.
After his concert in Mumbai, Martin attended the fifth anniversary celebration of the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, where he also met Sachin’s wife, Anjali, and daughter, Sara.
Tendulkar opened up about the idea to invite Chris for the event and said, “When we decided to have this event, just a celebration of five years of our foundation, I messaged Chris and I said, ‘We are planning to do something like this; would you be okay to come?’ Just as a friend. And his instant response was 100%. I’m there; you tell me where I need to come and for how long. So, I said, a very brief conversation about the foundation, your experience in Mumbai. He said, You tell me however long you want me to sit here; I’m ready to sit and chat with you.”
Tendulkar shared glimpses of their meeting on his social media handles and wrote a long post recalling the achievements of his foundation.
“Five years into this journey of making sports, health, and education accessible, we reflect on how far we’ve come. It’s still early days, yet we’re proud of the progress made, made possible by an incredible set of partners who share our vision. Thank you to all the well-wishers who joined us, including Chris Martin, for making this milestone special. Together, we aspire to scale greater heights and continue to #5hineBrighterTogether. #STF #SachinTendulkarFoundation,” wrote Tendulkar on his Instagram account.
