Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took a brutal dig at their Indian Premier League (IPL) rivals, Punjab Kings (PBKS), in an interesting social media feud on Monday.
Moments after their former skipper Virat Kohli’s animated celebration in front of PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer upon his team’s revenge victory in Mullanpur, RCB‘s social media handle joined in the fun and took a nasty jibe at the Kings by reposting a viral Kohli clip.
The video was from two years ago, when the megastar of Indian cricket had collaborated with the Norwegian dance group Quick Style for a short dance video. It was RCB’s response to a parody clip that PBKS’ social media team had posted of the video, where two of their employees pretended to emulate the dance. The pardoy video had garnered over a million views on social media platform Instagram.
The parody clip was aimed at getting under the skin of the Bengaluru side as well as their fans after Iyer’s men had made an easy feast of their fixture against RCB in the two teams’ previous clash on Friday (April 18).
Soon after RCB hammered Punjab with a seven-wicket triumph with Kohli playing his team’s top scorer in the afternoon game on Sunday, RCB’s social media took a dig at PBKS by posting the original clip of the viral collab with a caption: “Every masterpiece has a copy. Stick to the original. Enjoy. #PlayBold”
Kohli once again aced a run-chase in vintage fashion, scoring a well compiled 73 not out off 54 deliveries to take RCB home in a modest chase of 158. The great batter struck 7 fours and a six to continue his fantastic run in the IPL 2025.
The 36-year-old giant is now fourth on the list of leading run-getters for the tournament with 322 runs in eight innings at a strike-rate of 140. Devdutt Padikkal, with his 61 off 35 balls was another valiant batting performer of the game for RCB after their bowling attack had done a great job, restricting the in-form PBKS batting line-up to just 157/6 in their 20 overs.
