The iconic Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy has made its way to Jeddah just ahead of the highly anticipated mega auction. The IPL 2025 auction is scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Saudi Arabia. The official IPL account shared an engaging video on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing a montage of the trophy’s journey before arriving at the Abady Al-Johar Arena.
Building excitement for the auction, the post read: “Trophy’s Day Out! The prestigious TATA IPL trophy makes its appearance in Jeddah. 1 Day To Go for the TATA IPL Auction.”
The IPL mega auction promises to be a spectacular event, with 577 players set to go under the hammer. This shortlist was carefully trimmed from an initial pool of 1,574 registrations. Among the players, 366 are Indians, while 208 are overseas cricketers, including three from associate nations.
The auction features 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players. The 10 participating teams will aim to fill 204 slots, 70 of which are reserved for overseas players. Notably, 81 players have placed themselves in the elite Rs 2 crore bracket. With many top teams undergoing significant revamps, the stage is set for intense bidding wars.
Adding to the excitement, the auction will showcase some of India’s premier stars, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer. Fans eagerly await to see which franchises these standout players will join for the upcoming season.
