Rajasthan Royals suffered a shocking defeat by 11 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The defeat on Thursday (April 24) was RR’s fifth straight loss in the IPL this year and overall 7th defeat in nine matches played so far. With just four points after nine matches, Rajasthan Royals remain at 8th position in the points table, and their chances of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the playoffs are all but over.
The Jaipur-based franchise, however, can still qualify for the playoffs, but for that they first have to make sure that they win their remaining five matches by a very big margin and then at the same time hope that not more than three teams finish with more than 14 points.
If that happens, then with 14 points and a better net run rate than the other teams, the Royals can qualify for the playoffs.
However, the possibility of that is very low.
Three teams – Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru – have already secured 12 points and have at least five more matches to play. If they win at least two more games, then the Royals can’t match them.
If the Royals lose any one of their remaining five matches or if one of the games gets washed out, then also the Royals will get knocked out of the race to qualify for the playoffs.
