Star South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock is not playing Monday’s IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The former DC, MI and LSG stumper has been dropped from the playing XI after a string of flop performances. Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has replaced him in the playing XI, and Gurbaz will open the innings as well for the Ajinkya Rahane-led side against the table-toppers in front of home fans.
Apart from De Kock, fast bowler Anrich Nortje has also been dropped from KKR’s playing XI. In his place, former England all-rounder Moeen Ali is playing. Moeen has played three matches for KKR this season, but he was not able to do much with the bat. However, he has impressed with his bowling in the match against Rajasthan Royals last month.
Gujarat Titans have also made one change to the playing XI. Star Indian spinner Washington Sundar is part of GT’s playing XI. He came in place of Arshad Khan. The former MI and LSG pacer, however, is part of the impact players list, along with senior India pacer Ishant Sharma, and it will be interesting to see who comes in during the second half of the match.
GT to bat first
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane has won the toss in the ongoing IPL 2025 match against GT at Eden Gardens and has invited the visitors to bat first. A win in Kolkata will help GT strengthen their position at the top of the points table, whereas a win for the home team will take them to the sixth place with 6 points from eight matches.
