An AI-generated visual of Bumrah in a hospital bed has gone viral on social media as real. (The Quint)
Two images showing Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah in a hospital bed are being shared on social media platforms.
This claim comes following Bumrah’s lower-back injury which he sustained during the India and Australia test match in Sydney, Australia.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false as the images have been created using artificial intelligence (AI).
What we found: At first, we noticed the blurred background in the images which hinted at the visual at being created AI.
We checked the social media handles of Bumrah, but, did not find any image which resembled this. Following this, we checked the image on AI-detection websites such as Sightengine and Hive Moderation.
Sightengine: It concluded that the image was 99% generated using AI.
Hive Moderation: This AI-detection website also concluded that the visual likely contained AI-generated content.
Additionally, we found several posts on Facebook which noted that the image was created using AI in their captions.
A post by user Md Zulfequar, whose profile was listed under the digital creator category uploaded the visual with a similar caption as the viral images.
Conclusion: An AI-generated visual of Bumrah in a hospital bed has gone viral on social media as real.
