Keywords: India ex-all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has left fans in splits with a hilarious comment on Rishabh Pant’s latest Instagram post. The 27-year-old wicketkeeper is enjoying some time off after the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s conclusion on January 5.

He will next represent India in the upcoming ODI series against England. Weeks before the home bilateral series, Pant shared photographs of himself on Instagram. He was dressed in dapper formal attire.

Pant looked sharp in a well-put-together outfit that included a white shirt paired with a red tie and a beige corduroy blazer. Yuvraj reacted to Pant’s photographs in the post’s comments section with a ‘half pants’ remark.

Rishabh Pant wasn’t in his best form during the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The young wicketkeeper batter scored 255 runs for India across five Tests. He crossed the 50-run mark just once in the entire series while batting at a 28.33 average and an uncharacteristic 59.02 strike rate. India lost the series 1-3 on away soil.

Following a crushing defeat in Australia, Rishabh Pant made himself available for Delhi’s next Ranji Trophy match. They will play Saurashtra in Rajkot from January 23 onwards. The India wicketkeeper last competed in the tournament during the 2017-18 season.

DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma spoke about Pant’s return to domestic cricket to PTI. “Yes, Pant has confirmed his availability for the next Ranji game and will join the squad in Rajkot directly,” he said as per ESPNcricinfo. “About Virat Kohli, we want him to play but we haven’t heard from him, while Harshit Rana is selected in the T20 squad [for the England games] and hence is unavailable,” he added.

As for Yuvraj Singh, the decorated all-rounder found himself in the headlines after his father Yograj Singh’s controversial comments in an interview. Speaking to Unfiltered by Samdhish on YouTube, Yograj claimed that he would have been proud even if his son had died during the 2011 World Cup as India went on to claim the trophy.

“For our country, if Yuvraj Singh had died from cancer and had won India the World Cup, I would have been a proud father. I am still very proud of him. I have told him this over the phone as well. I wanted him to play even when he was spitting blood. I told him, ‘Don’t worry, you won’t die. Win this World Cup for India,” Yograj said.

Yuvraj Singh is one of India’s more storied all-rounders who won several accolades with the national side. He even won the Player of the Tournament award during India’s 2011 World Cup triumph. Yuvraj retired from all formats of the game in 2019.
