Siraj’s fun moment with the fans in Pune
Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was recently awarded the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Telangana government for his on-field excellence. The ace Indian pacer has been a crucial component of Team India’s bowling attack. However, his inconsistent performance in the longest format of the game saw him benched in the Pune Test against New Zealand on Thursday and replaced by Akash Deep.
Siraj was seen carrying drinks on the opening day of the second Test at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stadium in Pune. As he walked past the fence, the fans in the stands decided to have fun with the pacer as they started chanting ‘DSP-DSP’ in unison. In reply, Siraj firmly waved at the fans.
The Indian pacer is not the only athlete to receive the honour, as in July, the Telangana government announced Group-1 jobs for the cricketer as well as two-time world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen in appreciation of their outstanding performance in their respective sports.
Siraj will maintain his commitment to the Indian Cricket team going forward.
