Naman Ojha’s father has been found guilty of being involved in a case of embezzlement at a bank in Madhya Pradesh in 2013.

Former India cricketer Naman Ojha’s father has been found guilty and sentenced to seven years in jail for his involvement in a case of embezzlement. Vinay Ojha is among four individuals who have been sentenced for embezzling Rs 1.25 crore at a Bank of Maharashtra branch in Betul, Madhya Pradesh in 2013.

According to reports, the police had registered case against six individuals and after 11 years, Multai Additional Sessions Court pronounced its judgment on Tuesday.

Abhishek Ratnam, the mastermind, has received a sentence of 10 years besides being fined Rs 80 lakh.

Vinay Ojha was the branch manager at the time of embezzlement. Besides the jail sentence, he’s been asked to cough up Rs 7 lakh. Two brokers, who were reportedly associated with the bank, Dhanraj Pawar and Lakhan Hingwe have also handed a jail sentence of seven years each besides a fine of Rs 7 lakh each.

“During the investigation, it was found that the embezzlement was carried out using the passwords of bank officials,” Public prosecutor Rajesh Sable was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
