Indian Premier League side Punjab Kings, who are still in search of their maiden crown in the most lucrative T20 franchise league, will hope for a change in fortunes in the upcoming season of the 20-over extravaganza.

They have roped in Australian legend Ricky Ponting to serve as the head coach of the team in an attempt to kindle a winning spirit about the Mohali-based side.

The side would look to do well at the mega-auction set to take place in the early part of November. They have the option to retain six players from their existing roster, but could also choose for a fresh start in search of the coveted IPL trophy.

The side could only manage a ninth-place finish in the 2024 season with 10 points to their name and were only better than last-placed Mumbai Indians.

Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer who has donned the Punjab jersey since the 2019 season has gone on to become one of the mainstay bowlers of the national side with his electric pace.

He has provided bite to the PBKS seam attack with his gritty seam bowling and the southpaw also managed to send the batter back to the hut 19 times in the previous season to have a shot for the purple cap.

Punjab would look to retain the fiery pacer and build a bowling attack around him.

Shashank Singh

The 32-year-old was one of the biggest surprise packages of the season bygone as he made 354 runs with the willow for the Kings and was vital in keeping a cheer on about the side with his maverick batting.

He also managed to score his runs at a strike rate of over 160 and led Punjab to memorable wins in the latest iteration of the IPL.

The Punjab Kings could manage to get the player as an uncapped player at the price of Rs 4 Crores, which sounds to be a very lucrative deal for the side.

Ashutosh Sharma

Another name that shocked upset the status quo with his abilities with the bat in his debut 2024 edition of the T20 spectacle and provided grit in the middle order for the Kings.

He managed to post a highest of 61 runs in a crucial encounter and went on to add 189 runs in total in the campaign made the nation take notice of the 26-year-old.

Kagiso Rabada

The South African pacer has been a crucial exponent of the PBKS unit ever since his debut for the side in 2022, in which managed to tally 23 wickets.

He managed 11 dismissals in the most recent season of the IPL

Sam Curran

The English all-rounder was roped in for a whooping sum of Rs 18.5 Crores by the Kings in 2023 following an impressive performance for the Chennai Super Kings in previous seasons.

He has not lived up to his potential with the Mohali-based side but has churned out crunch performances to lead his side to victory on many occasions. The side had also trusted him with captaincy during the absence of Shikhar Dhawan.

The Englishman has the ability to impact games with both the bat and the ball and the Kings could be looking to build a side around the World Cup-winning youngster.

Liam Livingstone

Another English all-rounder who can take games away from you with his performance with the willow, the leather and on the field. The 31-year-old was brought in by the Kings in 2022 for Rs. 11.5 Crores and has proven his mettle.

He made an explosive start with PBKS with 437 runs in his debut season. His numbers have dwindled in campaigns since, but his ability to influence games remains a bright spot in what he brings to the table the Punjab management might opt to retain the services of the Englishman.
