Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has reserved massive praise for legendary Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah by saying that the 30-year-old right-arm fast bowler will go down as the best all-format bowler of all time. Bumrah, who sits at No. 1 position in the ICC Test rankings, was on fire for India in the ODI World Cup last year, and he maintained his red-hot form in the Test series against South Africa, England, and Bangladesh this year. In the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup, which was played from June 1 to 29 in the West Indies and USA, he dismissed 15 batters in eight matches for the Rohit Sharma-led side and won the Player of the Tournament award.

According to Maxwell, who was named in Australia’s 13-member squad for the T20I series against Pakistan on Monday (October 28), Bumrah is the best bowler he has ever faced.

“I think the best bowler I would have faced would probably be Bumrah. I think he’s probably going to go down as the best all-format bowler of all time,” Maxwell said in a video shared by ESPNCricinfo.

The 36-year-old all-rounder, Bumrah, has an unbelieveable slow ball, a great yorker, and the ability to swing both ways.

“His release point, because he releases it from so far out in front of himself, almost feels like he can change where he’s bowling right at the last moment. Unbelievable slow ball, great yorker, has the ability to swing it both ways; he’s got a brilliant wrist, and he’s got a good sniff. It feels like he’s got all the tricks of a really good fast bowler.”

Burmah, who made his international debut for India on January 23, 2016, against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, has 173, 149, and 89 wickets to his name in 40 Tests, 89 ODIs, and 70 T20Is played so far.

Bumrah will lead India’s bowling attack in the five-match Test series against Australia next month. In seven Tests played so far in Australia, he has 32 wickets to his name. He has also played 21 ODIs and 14 ODIs against the Aussies and has dismissed 30 and 17 batters, respectively.
