WPL 2025: From Schedule To Full Squads; Take A Look At All Key Details About Gujarat Giants
Gujarat Giants will be aiming for their maiden Women’s Premier League (WPL) title this time. They will kickstart their WPL 2025 campaign with a match against reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at BCA Stadium in Vadodara on the opening day of the competition – February 14.
Gujarat Giants will play in the WPL 2025 under the leadership of Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner, who is a two-time Belinda Clark Award winner and played a significant role in Australia’s 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medal success. Gardner was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup, held in South Africa in 2023.
Gardner has been a part of the Gujarat Giants franchise since the inception of the WPL. In the last two seasons of the competition, she scored 324 runs and picked up 17 wickets. Gujarat Giants were led by Beth Mooney in the WPL 2024.
Gujarat Giants have not had an impressive campaign in any of the WPL seasons. On both occasions, they finished at the bottom of the WPL points table, claiming four wins overall. The outfit strengthened their squad with four key signings at the WPL 2025 mini-auction. Gujarat Giants roped in two overseas all-rounders—Deandra Dottin and Danielle Gibson. They also acquired the services of uncapped Simran Shaikh for Rs 1.9 crore and Prakashika Naik.
Overall, 20 games will be played at the league stage of the WPL 2025. Following the conclusion of the league stage, one eliminator will be held on March 13. The WPL 2025 final is scheduled to take place at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on February 15.
