Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans rode on Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 97-run knock on Saturday (April 19) to chase down the target of 204 runs in 19.2 overs for the loss of three wickets and win the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Buttler faced 54 balls for the Ahmedabad-based franchise and hammered 11 fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease. The former England white-ball captain added 60 runs for the second wicket with opener Sai Sudharsan (36 from 21) and 119 runs for the third wicket with Sherfane Rutherford (43 from 34 balls).

The win in Ahmedabad helped GT become the first team in IPL history to successfully chase down a 200-run-plus target against Delhi Capitals.

Now after DC’s defeat, five-time champions Mumbai Indians remain the only team to have a 100% win record while defending 200-plus scores. MI have won all 15 IPL matches in which they managed to cross the 200-run mark while batting first.

The win in Ahmedabad was also the first time in the IPL that GT successfully managed to chase down the 200-plus total. Before 7-wicket win over DC, GT’s highest successful run chase in IPL was 198 against RCB in Bengaluru during the 2023 season.
