Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel has joined the coaching staff of IPL franchise Gujarat Titans.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel has been appointed as the new assistant and batting coach of Indian Premier League franchise Gujarat Titans. Patel represented India in 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and two T20Is between 2002 and 2011.
“With a distinguished 17-year career as a former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Parthiv brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team,” GT said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Parthiv’s insights into batting techniques and strategies will play a crucial role in enhancing the players’ skills. Parthiv, who is known for his sharp cricketing acumen and ability to mentor young talent, will strengthen the coaching staff and contribute to player development and performance,” it added.
Patel has a rich IPL experience as a player having represented as many as six teams including Chennai Super Kings, Kochi Tuskers Kerala (now defunct), Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians.
He scored 2848 runs from 139 matches during his IPL career including 13 half-centuries.
Patel retired in 2020 and then became MI’s talent scout for three seasons. While this is his first coaching role in IPL, he has served as the batting coach for MI Emirates in the inaugural season of ILT20.
GT became the IPL champions in 2022 on debut under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya and finished as the runners-up in the following season. Pandya left for MI ahead of the mini auction last year after which Shubman Gill took over the team captaincy. However, the team endured a forgettable IPL 2024, finishing 8th in the 10-team points table.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions, GT retained five players including Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan for a combined value of Rs 51 crore. They will enter the auction with a purse of Rs 69 crore.
The IPL mega auctions will be held across two days – November 24 and 25 – in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). As many as 1574 players from across the world have registered for the player auction – 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas.
