Gujarat Titans IPL 2025 player retention: A look at the star cricketers that GT kept hold of before the mega auction.

Gujarat Titans retained a total of five players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Premier Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan was the franchise’s first retention for Rs 18 crore, followed by two capped Indian batters in Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan and two uncapped Indian all-rounders in Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan.

GT’s Costliest Player in Retention List
Rashid Khan: The Afghanistan international has been arguably one of the most prolific spin bowlers in the shortest format. He has come a long way since making his debut in the tournament, back in 2017. Now along with his wicket-taking abilities, the 26-year-old is also known to be a fine power-hitter with the bat as well. With his all-round abilities, the Titans have decided to make him the first-choice retention at 18 crores.
His performance in the 2024 season did not live up to his standards. With the ball, he only picked up 10 wickets with an economy of 8.4 runs per over. He also scored 100 runs with the bat at a strike-rate of 143.66 which includes 11 boundaries and three maximums. Despite his underperformance, the franchise has backed the star all-rounder to play a key role in the upcoming three-year cycle.
