Hardik smacked as many as four sixes and one four to collect a total of 28 runs from the 10th over of Baroda’s innings, which was bowled by Tripura spinner Parvez Sultan.
Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is playing for Baroda these days in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 31-year-old right-handed batter, who played a big role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 title win in June this year, scored 47 runs from just 23 balls for the Krunal Pandya-led side on Friday (November 29) during the match played against Tripura at Holkar Stadium in Indore. He came out to bat at No. 4 and, during his stay at the crease, hammered three fours and five sixes.
Of those five sixes, he hammered four in one over itself. During the 10th over of Baroda’s innings, he took Tripura spinner Parvez Sultan to cleaners and smacked a six on the first, third, fourth, and sixth balls apart from scoring a boundary on the fifth delivery.
Hardik, who has also served as India’s T20I captain in the past, collected a total of 28 overs from that over to take his side closer to the 110-run target. He was however unlucky to miss out on a well-deserving half-century and was sent back to the pavilion by MB Mura Singh on the third ball of the 11th over.
Hardik, who was last seen in action for India against South Africa during the four-match T20I series played earlier this month, has been in red-hot form in the ongoing premier domestic T20 tournament. He kicked off the tournament with an unbeaten 74-run knock from 35 balls against Gujarat on November 23 and then hammered unbeaten 41 runs from just 21 balls in the next match against Uttarakhand.
In the last match of SMAT for Baroda, Hardik scored 69 runs from just 30 balls to help his team chase down the target of 222 runs against Tamil Nadu.
Apart from his batting, Hardik has impressed with his bowling in the ongoing edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and in four matches played so far, he has picked up two wickets.
With 231 runs to his name in four matches, Hardik sits at No. 2 position in the list of batters with most runs in the ongoing edition of the premier domestic T20 tournament.
