Former Indian men’s cricket team captain and legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar is celebrating his 52nd birthday on Thursday, April 24. Tendulkar played 24 years for India after making his debut as a 16-year-old against Pakistan in November 1989. The right-handed batter is still the most capped player in Tests and ODIs, and he also holds the record for scoring the most runs in Tests and ODIs. Tendulkar, who is arguably the greatest cricketer of all time, retired from international cricket in 2013 but even today is respected so much by the cricketing fraternity and beyond.
On Tendulkar’s special day, his former Indian teammate and legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took to Instagram to share a video post to wish him well.
According to Yuvraj, who played a big role in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup title win, Tendulkar was his childhood hero even before he knew his name.
“He was my childhood hero before he even knew my name. And then one day, I walked into the dressing room and saw him there. The Master himself. But what stayed with me wasn’t just his greatness. It was his grace. For all the centuries, the cheers, the weight of a billion hopes, he carried it all with the gentlest humility. Happy Birthday, Master. You didn’t just play the game. You taught us how to carry ourselves through it. Loads of love always, @sachintendulkar,” Yuvraj captioned the video post.
Tendulkar’s daughter Sara Tendulkar also took to Instagram to share a photo post to wish the great man on his 52nd birthday.
“To the man who taught me not to fear anyone, but to respect everyone, the man who carried me despite his fractured arm (and the never-ending list of other injuries), the man who continues to photobomb my shoots and most importantly, the man who taught me that it’s important to have fun, laugh a lot and enjoy life! Happy Birthday Babaaaaa,” Sara captioned the post.
Tendulkar is part of the Mumbai Indians support staff in IPL 2025. He has been working with them as a mentor for so many years now.
