Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed’s million-dollar social media post for star India batter Virat Kohli days after their viral Champions Trophy moment has grabbed a lot of attention online since it was posted on Saturday, March 1.

The post came days after Abrar faced Kohli in the Champions Trophy game between India and Pakistan in Dubai.

Taking to Instagram, Abrar was seen in awe of Kohli‘s humility as he called him a true inspiration.

“Bowling to my childhood hero Virat Kohli. Grateful for his appreciation; his greatness as a cricketer is only matched by his humility as a person,” Abrar posted.

The post comprised Abrar and Kohli’s viral moment from the Champions Trophy game on February 23. Abrar found himself amidst criticism after his send-off to Shubman Gill with a brilliant ball.

At the end of Abrar’s spell, Kohli, in an act of true sportsmanship, walked up to the former to shake hands and recognise his effort.

On Sunday, Kohli will become the seventh Indian player to achieve the feat of playing 300 ODIs after batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, former India captain MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh.

The Indian cricket team had a strenuous training session in Dubai on Wednesday, with Kohli spending a lot of time facing spinners even as bowling coach Morne Morkel rejoined the team after attending to a personal emergency back home.

Kohli not just faced the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja during the training session but spent over half an hour playing the net bowlers ahead of the clash against New Zealand on Sunday as well.

Star pacer Mohammed Shami too was seen bowling at full tilt, swinging the ball both ways and rapping Kohli twice on his pads, while Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh too looked determined to give their best during the session.

Kohli, 36, has 82 international hundreds across all formats, with his latest coming in India’s commanding six-wicket win against Pakistan. But before this, he had struggled for runs at home.

Kohli will look to put up another show against New Zealand on Sunday.
