India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has provided a big update about Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s availability for the first Test against Australia.

Indian men’s cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has said he is hopeful about Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s availability for the first Test against Australia, which is set to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22.
While speaking to reporters in the pre-departure press conference for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Mumbai on Monday (November 11), Gambhir said as of now there is no confirmation, but he is hoping that he will be available.
“At present there is no confirmation on Rohit; hopefully he will be available. We will get to know before the start of the first Test,” Gambhir said.
According to Gambhir, if Rohit misses the series opener, then KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran could open the innings for the visitors.
