Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, who is horribly out of form these days, took a big decision on Friday (January 3) and opted out of the fifth Test against Australia, which is currently underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After Rohit opted out of the fifth Test, there were reports of Rohit calling time on his Test career, but the 37-year-old right-handed batter, while speaking to former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan on Saturday, gave a big update about his future.
According to Rohit, he took the decision to sit out of the fifth Test because of his recent form.
“I have not retired. I have just stepped down from his match,” he said on Star Sports.
“Runs are not coming now, but not guaranteed it’ll not come 5 months later. I’ll work hard. People on the outside sitting with laptop, pen and paper don’t decide when retirement will come and what decisions I need to take,” he added.
