Australian debutant Sam Konstas says the “emotions” got the better of both him and India superstar Virat Kohli as the two were involved in a heated exchange during the first day of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne on Thursday.
Kohli shoulder barged Konstas during the first session of the fourth Test which angered the latter before Usman Khawaja and the on-field umpire intervened to calm the situation.
“I think the emotions got to both of us,” Konstas told Channel 7. “I didn’t quite realise, I was doing my gloves, then a little shoulder charge, but it happens in cricket.”
Australia legend Ricky Ponting felt that it was Kohli who was the instigator.
“Have a look where Virat walks. Virat’s walked one whole pitch over to his right and instigated that confrontation. No doubt in my mind whatsoever,” Ponting said on Channel 7.
