Bangladesh get their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 underway with their opener against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday as the Bangla Tigers go in search of a first-ever ICC title.
Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto opined that his side have the potential to take on and get the better of any side as he revealed his confidence in his unit’s pace attack.
“I think we have always struggled with our seam attack but last couple of years we have got some quality fast bowlers,” Shanto began.
“Now we have Nahid Rana, Taskin (Ahmed), the way they are bowling, I think it helps a lot,” he said.
“As a captain, we love to see them bowling fast,” the 26-year-old continued.

The 22-year-old Nahid has made an impression since being called up to represent the national side and Shanto lauded the seamer’s ability to charge up the entire team.
“I think last few months he bowled very well and bowled fast, Shanto said.
“And when we see him in the ground bowling like this, it helps our whole bowling unit, and it has motivated us (in) how we can give opponents lots of challenges,” the Bangladesh skipper added.
Bangladesh are placed in Group A alongside hosts Pakistan, heavyweights India and the second New Zealand team, with the top two teams from the pool set to advance to the subsequent round at the end of the group stage.
Shanto also voiced that his side have a decent shout at winning against any opponent given they stick to their strengths and execute their plans to perfection.
“We believe we can beat any team in this tournament and all the teams are capable to win this tournament,” the captain of the Bangla Tigers said.
“But I’m someone not thinking about the opponent too much. If we execute our plan properly, we can beat any team.”
