Gilchrist has already been on record admitting his respect and adoration for Pant and his play style, one that is almost a reflection of the Aussie great’s fiery demeanor with the bat.
Rishabh Pant and Adam Gilchrist’s adorable bond continues to blossom as the Indian wicketkeeper was captured sharing a wholesome interaction with the Australian legend before the beginning of Day 3 of the second Test on Sunday.
Pant was seen slowly waltzing behind Gilchrist and wrapping his arms around the retired Aussie legend to embrace him and share a few words.
Gilchrist has already been on record admitting his respect and adoration for Pant and his play style, one that is almost a reflection of the Aussie great’s fiery demeanor with the bat.
In fact, in a talk prior to Pant’s sublime showing in the Chennai test against Bangladesh earlier this year, the retired Aussie wicketkeeper told Cricket.com how they boasted a similar playing style.
“Oh, he’s [the closest to me]. I reckon he attacks a bit more than I did. I played an aggressive brand at that time, but Rishabh, he looks fearless. What I do like is that he occasionally puts a foot on the brake and absorbs a bit of pressure.”
Speaking further about Rishabh Pant, Adam Gilchrist described the Indian wicketkeeper as a class act. “So he’s [Pant] a class act. He’s what you say, ‘bums on seats’. And people pay money well and truly and I would happily pay money to watch him play cricket. That’s a great quality to have I think,” he added.
Unfortunately for India though, Panty could not get it done for the visitors today as ace pacers Mitchell Starc and skipper Pat Cummins ran riot over the Indian batters to bowl the out for a mere 175 runs, setting themselves a total of 19 runs to chase: a mark they would reach within 4 overs to seal a dominating 10-wicket win.
Both teams will now shift their focus to the third Test that is set to take place at the Gabba. India has a lot to look at going into the next game. Questions will be asked of both the batting and bowling units as they look to bounce back with a better performance to take the lead once again. With the WTC Final at stake, India will be keen on bouncing back with a win.
