Three years after breaching Australia’s fortress, Team India is back in Brisbane to lock horns with the Aussies in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma & Co landed in the city on Wednesday for the third Test against the hosts at the Gabba. The 5-match series is currently levelled 1-1 with 3 more matches to go.

On Wednesday, broadcaster Star Sports shared a video on microblogging site X in which the stars of Team India could be seen walking out of the Brisbane airport. The third Test of the ongoing series begins on Saturday with India looking to bounce back after losing the day-night affair by 10 wickets in Adelaide.

While Australia headed to Brisbane for the third Test starting Saturday, Team India stayed back in Adelaide to focus on sharpening their red-ball skills.

The Indian captain, struggling with form and having scored only 142 runs in his last 12 innings with a lone half-century (52), rejoined the team after the birth of his son. Determined to find his rhythm, he practiced against both Indian spinners and pacers in the nets.

Rohit Sharma, who moved himself to No. 6 in the batting order, managed scores of three and six in Adelaide. He was dismissed LBW to a fuller ball that moved back in during the first innings and bowled by a length delivery from Pat Cummins in the second.

Virat Kohli, who had ended his 16-month century drought with a hundred in Perth, was dismissed twice in Adelaide by edging deliveries — once to second slip and then to the wicketkeeper. In the nets, Kohli started cautiously before gradually finding his flow.

KL Rahul was more defensive during his session, while Rishabh Pant showcased a few aggressive strokes. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had shone with a stunning 161 in the first Test, was the most attacking in the nets. He played cheeky shots and even stepped out to challenge the bowlers.

The bowling attack included Harshit Rana, Akash Deep, Yash Dayal, and the spin trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Washington Sundar. A few throwdown specialists were also present to assist the batters.

The key pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, along with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, had a relatively light session. Team India is set to travel to Brisbane on Wednesday, ready to gear up for the next challenge.
