The Indian cricket team, which sits at the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings, will kickstart its Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on Thursday, February 20. The Champions Trophy fixture between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India will play all three league matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The high-voltage contest between the two arch-rivals—India and Pakistan—will be on February 23. India will be up against New Zealand on March 2. The Indian team management decided to include five spinners and three fast bowlers in their 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy, which is making a return after eight years. Pakistan were the winners of the last edition of the Champions Trophy. Pakistan got the better of India in the Champions Trophy 2017 final.
India remains the most successful side in the tournament’s history in terms of matches won (18 wins in 29) and trophies (2 titles – joint-most alongside Australia). The Men in Blue will once again aim to carry forward their dominance this time and lift the Champions Trophy under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
Pakistan will kick off the Champions Trophy 2025 with the tournament opener against New Zealand in Karachi today. The competition features eight teams divided into two groups of four. Each team will play three group-stage matches, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout rounds of the ICC event.
Hosts Pakistan, India, New Zealand and Bangladesh are placed in Group A of this edition of the Champions Trophy. Group B, on the other hand, comprises South Africa, Australia, England and Afghanistan.
